I am a contemporary realist oil painter drawn to creating work that evokes a sense of wonder - images that invite you to pause, reflect, and step into a space where imagination and reality gently meet.
I continue my lifelong career as a painter, creating commissioned works since retiring from my second career as a Special Effects Makeup Artist for film in Vancouver, BC. During that chapter, I was honoured to receive both an Emmy and a Leo Award, and it taught me to see with extraordinary attention—light across form, texture beneath the surface, and the subtle details that bring life to any subject. I worked in a wide range of mediums—canvas, silicone, foam, clay, and even human skin—each one shaping the way I now approach my oil paintings with depth, realism, and nuance.
Although I am largely self-taught, I have been fortunate to study extensively with international artist Gene Prokop, where I fell in love with the techniques of the Old Masters. Through this training, I developed a deep appreciation for classical realism—creating harmony with rich layers, soft edges, and the interplay of light and shadow using earth tones and complementary colour.
I also had the privilege of learning from and being mentored by international exhibiting artist Kristy Gordon of New York, NY. Her influence encouraged me to honour my classical roots while allowing space for imagination and hyper realism to emerge in my work.
For several years, I owned and operated my own gallery in Yellowknife, NT, and have exhibited in both solo and group shows in Yellowknife and Vancouver. Seeing my work connect with others—and even sell out in exhibitions—has been deeply meaningful. Over time, my paintings and prints have found homes in collections around the world, from Canada to South Africa and Australia.
Today, I continue to create from a place of curiosity and emotion. My hope is that each painting offers a quiet moment—something that draws you in, invites feeling, and becomes a space where you can pause… and perhaps, dream.
